SAP 2009

SAP 2009 came into effect on 1st October 2010.

I am now qualified and approved under the NHER On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor Accreditation Scheme to undertake SAP 2009 Home Energy Rating calculations having completed the required training and on-line examination, and have upgraded to the latest BRE Approved SAP 2009 software.

Transitional arrangements between SAP 2009 and earlier versions of SAP are as follows.

Dwellings can be built according to the previous building regulations covered by SAP 2001 or SAP 2005 if:

1.  Work has already started on site before 1 October 2010

2.   Work done under a Competent Persons Scheme had a contract entered into before 1 October 2010 and work started before 6 April 2011

3.  A Building Notice, Full plans Aplication or Initial Notice is submitted before 1 October 2010 and work starts on site before 1 October 2011

SAP 2005 OCEPCs will remain in force until 1 April 2011. From that date onwards OCEPCs will be produced under the SAP 2009 regime.

More information on the key changes from SAP 2005 can be found in summary form at the NES website.

Full SAP 2009 documentation is available at the BRE website.
